Biography
Dr. Hirsch is a professor of Otolaryngology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is the director of the Ear and Hearing Center and Division of Otology /Neurotology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He graduated medical school from the University of Pennsylvania and completed an otolaryngology residency and a neurotology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the University of Zurich. Dr. Hirsch’s specific fields of interest include otology, neurotology, cranial base surgery, cochlear implants, acoustic neuromas, facial nerve disorders, and stereotactic radiosurgery of intracranial and skull base tumors. He is the chairman of the Hearing Committee and immediate past chair of the Implantable Device Subcommittee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. Dr Hirsch is the Chair of the Ear, Nose and Throat Device Panel of the Federal Drug Administration and past president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.
